Galway is known as the City of Festivals with a season of festivals that climaxes in the Arts Festival in July. Wander around the city walls and take time to see the Spanish Arch. Visit Galway Cathedral, completed in 1965 it is located on the site of the former city jail and is home to a 145ft dome that dominates the city landscape.

Travel along the coast to the Cliffs of Moher, a UNESCO Global Geopark with cliffs rising up to 702 feet at their highest. Walking here is a pleasure with views of the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, Twelve Bens Mountains and the Dingle Peninsula.

Spend time in The Burren, home to a diverse range of unique plants, included among these are 23 of Ireland’s 27 native orchid species. Tour one of the oldest caves in Ireland, Aillwee Caves and take a tour through beautiful caverns and alongside the thunderous waterfall. Marvel at the weird formations and cave features such as the frozen waterfall. Combine a trip to the caves with a visit to the Birds of Prey centre and learn all about these magnificent birds; be entertained by the dynamic flying displays and you can even take a hawk walk.

Spend a day at Bunratty Castle & Folk Park and explore the most complete and authentic medieval castle in Ireland. Stroll around the houses of yesteryear and visit the charming village street complete with school, post office, doctors house, hardware shop, printers and of course McNamara’s pub!

Drive along the Loop Head Peninsula, a stunning coastal drive culminating at Loop Lighthouse. Appreciate the dramatic cliffs and keep a look out for whales, dolphins and a variety of nesting sea birds. The Shannon Estuary is home to around 160 bottlenose dolphins.
